MULLING RECIPES

MULLED CIDER OR WINE

INGREDIENTS

1/2 gallon apple cider or 1-750ml dry red wine, such as Cabernet Sauvignon

1/4 cup Mulling Spices

2 oranges, thinly sliced (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1

Combine cider or wine, Mulling Spices, and oranges if using, in a large saucepan. 

Step 2

Simmer for 15-20 minutes. Serve warm. 

MULLING RECIPES

POACHED PEARS

INGREDIENTS

4 cups water

½ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup honey

1 inch piece fresh ginger, peeled

3 tablespoons Mulling Spices

4 small, firm ripe Bosc pears, peeled with stem intact

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1

In a saucepan just large enough to hold the pears, add the water, sugar, honey, ginger and Mulling Spices. Bring to a boil. Once the sugar has dissolved, simmer for 5 minutes.

Step 2

Gently add in the pears and simmer for 20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the pears are knife tender. Remove from heat and allow the pears to cool in syrup. The pears can be covered and refrigerated for up to 2 days.

Step 3 (Optional)

Serve with vanilla ice cream or greek yogurt topped with crumbled cookies or granola. Crumbled Amaretti cookies with greek yogurt is our favorite variation.
